UPDATE: We decided to give up the Jeep Wrangler when we purchased our Roadtrek 190 Popular Class B campervan. We loved having the Wangler as it was so easy to tow behind the motorcoach, but having “Hobart” with us has opened up so many more adventure possibilities!!
Our Toad is a 2018 Jeep Wrangler (JL) Sahara we call “Nuttin’ but Time” and nicknamed “Jeepster”
We purchased the Wrangler new in 2019 in anticipation of getting our RV and using it to flat tow. Other than having Jeepster setup to tow and add a custom MostTimers spare tire cover, we have not done any real modifications to it.
We got the Jeep setup to flat tow at a 4×4 customization shop outside or Olando. We did not have the greatest experience with them, so I’m not going to mention them or endorse them. We opted for a setup that used Maximus-3 Tow Loops rather than a baseplate with a AirforceOne breaking system. The full setup we are using is:
We designed our spare tire cover with www.fourwheelcovers.com and they had a quick turnaround and were great to work with from a design and proof verification. We added our @MostTimers around the outside and put our logo on the back. When it is time to get a new one, we will order with color, but this one is a great start!
One of the coolest things about our Jeep is that our Golf Cart fits inside!!! This was not planned when we get the Jeep, but was a great added bonus when we found the golf cart at https://cricketminigolfcarts.com/. If you want to see a youtube video of how the golf cart comes out of the jeep and get setup, check it out:
In order to make our lives easier for taking the golf cart with us, we got some stronger ramps than originally came with the golf cart, as well as a roof rack for the jeep. We needed the roof rack because the golf cart roof frame was too big to fit in the RV basement. The ramps and roof rack we chose were:
1,500 lb. Capacity Arched Aluminum Center-Fold Loading Ramps
